Signs that your partner is attracted to your friend

It’s always nice when your partner gets on with your friends and it can make life a lot easier. However, don’t allow yourself to become complacent to the fact your partner’s feelings may run deeper than friendship. Here we have outlined some signs that possibly show your partner is attracted to your friend.

  • They regular drop your friend’s name into the conversation, even if you aren’t talking about them. It may seem strange that they have mentioned their name especially when the discussion was nothing to do with them. This shows your friend is certainly on their mind.
  • Does your partner ask about your friend on a regular basis? There’s no harm in showing concern for your friend for your sake, but when their questions become more frequent, whether it’s a general enquiry or a question about their personal life, then it could be more than just a friendly query.
  • Have you noticed how intensely your partner stares at your friend? This is one of the most obvious ways to tell if your partner has feelings more than friendship towards them. You may notice this happening even when your partner isn’t chatting to your friend; they could be staring from afar too.
  • Do they ask if your friend is joining you both for various plans you’ve made? Perhaps it’s your girlfriend/boyfriend who suggests your friend joins you to go out. Either way, it may be a sign that you’re not the only one they want to be going out with on that occasion.
  • Have your partner and friend suddenly become best buddies themselves? Perhaps they’ve started to text or email each other and are communicating via social networking sites, all of which you aren’t included in. You may start to feel the odd one out and notice them talking about conversations you knew nothing about.
  • When you go out as a group, does your friend seem to get more attention than you do from your girlfriend/boyfriend? If their playfulness and flirting have become noticeable and even physical, including too many friendly hugs for your liking, then it’s time to admit that you’re not the one they want to be with, especially if you aren’t at the receiving end of any hugs or flirting.

If your friend is getting far more attention than you are, then it’s time to take action and confront your partner: – you’ll tell from their reaction whether your suspicions have been correct and there’s no point in wasting any more of your life being with someone who’s attracted to someone else, don’t settle for being second best. Alternatively, try not to have your friend around you and your partner as often. By putting distance between them you are hopefully removing them from your girlfriend/boyfriend’s mind, but if their feeling run strong, then there’s not much you can do apart from move on. Make sure your suspicions are correct before you take action otherwise you face losing someone special over an incorrect suspicion.
